HV SERIES FK-5-1-12 CLEAN AGENT FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM

Engineered clean agent protection for critical facilities and high-value assets.

The inControl Systems HV Series is an engineered FK-5-1-12 clean agent fire suppression system designed for total-flooding protection against Class A surface-burning, Class B flammable-liquid, and Class C fires within an enclosure.

Every system is individually calculated and configured for the specific hazard, enclosure, and performance requirements of the project.

ENGINEERED FOR YOUR APPLICATION

An engineered clean agent system requires detailed calculations to determine the agent quantity, flow rates, nozzle pressures, pipe sizes, coverage provided by each nozzle, and the number, type, and placement of discharge nozzles.

The HV Series provides the flexibility to create a system around the protected hazard rather than applying a fixed configuration.

Available system arrangements include:

  • Individual or manifolded cylinder assemblies

  • Variable clean-agent fill quantities

  • Selector-valve configurations

  • Remote actuation stations

  • Electrical, manual, and pneumatic actuation options

  • 180-degree sidewall and 360-degree center discharge nozzles

HV SERIES VALVE ASSEMBLIES

The HV Series uses pressure-differential cylinder valves designed to contain the FK-5-1-12 agent and its expellant gas.

Three valve sizes are available:

HV-150

  • 1½-inch (DN40) valve

  • Female NPT outlet connection

  • Nominal working pressure: 500 psi (34.5 bar)

HV-200

  • 2-inch (DN50) valve

  • Grooved-pipe outlet connection

  • Nominal working pressure: 500 psi (34.5 bar)

HV-300

  • 3-inch (DN80) valve

  • Grooved-pipe outlet connection

  • Nominal working pressure: 500 psi (34.5 bar)

All three models have a working temperature range of 32°F to 130°F (0°C to 54.5°C).

Each valve also includes a ¼-inch female NPT pilot actuation port that can supply pressure to additional HV Series cylinder as

A RANGE OF CYLINDER CAPACITIES

HV Series cylinder assemblies are available in eight nominal sizes, supporting a wide range of system capacities and hazard requirements.

Available nominal cylinder sizes:

  • 45 lb (20 kg)

  • 100 lb (45 kg)

  • 140 lb (60 kg)

  • 250 lb (120 kg)

  • 450 lb (200 kg)

  • 600 lb (300 kg)

  • 900 lb (400 kg)

  • 1,200 lb (500 kg)

The carbon-steel cylinders are manufactured and tested in accordance with applicable Department of Transportation requirements and ANSI/CAN/UL/ULC 2166.

Multiple cylinders may be combined in manifold arrangements or individually connected to discharge nozzles.

PRACTICAL MONITORING AND MAINTENANCE FEATURES

The HV Series incorporates features intended to support installation, inspection, and ongoing system maintenance.

REMOVABLE PRESSURE GAUGE

An integrated valve core allows the pressure gauge to be removed or installed while the cylinder remains operational. If a gauge is removed, only a small amount of nitrogen escapes before the valve core closes automatically.

OPTIONAL LOW-PRESSURE SUPERVISION

An optional supervisory pressure switch can monitor cylinder pressure and trip when the pressure falls below 400 psi (27.6 bar).

LIQUID-LEVEL INDICATION

Cylinder assemblies with a nominal size of 250 lb and larger are equipped with a liquid-level indicator. This allows the amount of agent inside the cylinder to be checked using the measurement and cylinder-specific charts.

AGENT RECOVERY

The HV Series is designed to facilitate the recovery of FK-5-1-12. Agent may be extracted from a cylinder assembly and transferred to an appropriate container or another agent cylinder.

FK-5-1-12 CLEAN AGENT

FK-5-1-12 is a halon-alternative clean agent intended for applications where conventional water-based suppression may not be suitable.

According to the HV Series manual, FK-5-1-12 has:

  • Zero ozone-depletion potential

  • A global-warming potential of less than one

  • A large margin of safety for human occupancy when designed and used in accordance with NFPA 2001 requirements

Clean agent systems must be properly designed, installed, operated, and maintained in accordance with the HV Series manual, NFPA 2001, and applicable local requirements.

LISTED AND APPROVED

Products covered by the HV Series manual are:

  • UL/ULC listed — File EX28956

  • FM approved — Approval FM25US0276

The equipment has been evaluated in accordance with UL 2166 and FM 5600 as components of an engineered clean agent fire extinguishing system.
